When talking about weight loss, many people believe that there’s no real secret to it. By exercising more and eating less, you’ll begin to lose weight, right? So why do so many people struggle with easy and consistent weight loss? I’ve seen the same thing with the clients I have worked with over the years. They tend to get some results at the beginning but, for some reason, tend to quit before they reach their goals. Is it a lack of motivation, or is it something else that makes them quit? And on the flip side to that, feeling bad emotionally leads to weight gain and having a dissatisfying body
A lot of people don’t want to hear that because we are taught that the people who struggle the most are the ones who get the most rewards.
No pain, no gain, right?
In the weight loss community, we emphasize taking action, but we lose sight of how we are feeling first.
I am a firm believer in the law of attraction.
If you’re unfamiliar with what the law of attraction means, what you think and what manifests in your life are matched.
If you’re feeling bad about your weight, how you look, or anything else negative in your life, that same negative emotion will attract more feelings, situations, and people that match that emotion.
When you’re happy, feeling good, and excited about moving in the direction of your goals, You will be inspired to eat certain foods less of them and be more active.
It has to come when you imagine yourself having the body of your dreams, feeling proud and happy about yourself before you get there.
Remember to feel good emotionally and be inspired to whatever action feels best.
Secret #2 – Making food your friend


We have been studying nutrition for the past 20 years and noticed one thing.
There’s a lot of conflicting information.
Here are some examples of popular conflicting Nutrition advice that experts give:
- Eat only egg whites.
- Eat the whole egg.
- Eat low carb to lose weight
- Eat low fat to lose weight
- Eat whatever you want as long as you’re below your daily maintenance calories to lose weight.
- Eat plain chicken, rice, and broccoli to lose weight
- Eat six small meals a day to speed up your metabolism to lose weight
- Eat one large meal a day at night and fast during the day to lose weight
With so many conflicting ideas about food, it’s no wonder why so many people have a negative relationship with food.
Food can be your friend
My mom had a friend when I was growing up who is a perfect example of how to be. She was about 120 lbs (54 kg), fit and trimmed. My mother was over 200 lbs (90 kg) and always struggled with her weight. They were about the same height.
This friend rarely exercised, while my mom exercised all the time.
We went out to dinner one night, and my mom’s friend ate an entire appetizer, complimentary bread and butter, a salad, her entree, and dessert, and finished her husband’s dinner that he didn’t finish.
My mom barely ate half of a salad with chicken. My mom was jealous and asked her friend how she stays thin when eating so much.
Her friend gave the best answer: Food is my friend
Many experts might say, “oh, she must have a naturally high metabolism.”
I’m here to say that your emotions and how you feel about food are the main factor here.
It’s not about what you eat but how you feel about what you eat.
If you’re going to have a dessert or some junk food, make peace with that decision and enjoy it.
As soon as you feel guilty about eating something, you’re shooting your weight loss results in the foot.
Changing how you feel about food is not an overnight process. You’ve been fed information (pun intended) for so long, and beliefs are powerful.
Just remember to feel as good as you can emotionally and take it one day at a time.
Secret # 3 – Exercise that you enjoy


As adults, many of us get lazy and less active.
It could be because we’re working all day and dealing with life’s stresses. But when we want to get back into shape later in life, it’s much more challenging.
For example, when I started doing jump rope again, I was amazed at how difficult it was to skip for 1 minute.
I thought back to when I was in elementary school and could skip rope for almost 30 minutes while at recess.
The reason I believe that it was so much easier back then was that I was having fun.
You will get minimum results if you’re looking at exercise as a chore or something you don’t want to do.
But if you can find an exercise such as jumping rope, swimming, or dancing, you’re much more likely to do it, and you won’t even think of it as exercise.
