How to lose weight and eat healthy when traveling
Losing weight and eating healthy when traveling can be a challenging affair. There will be a lot of temptation to eat less than healthy foods. However, you can still lose weight, feel great, and enjoy what you eat when traveling. Here are our favorite ways to lose weight and eat healthy while traveling.
Intermittent fasting is an excellent way to lose weight and still be able to enjoy higher-calorie foods while traveling or on vacation. I like to use a 16-hour fast and 8-hour feeding window.
My schedule is usually a 12 pm to 8 pm feeding window and then an 8 pm to 12 pm fasting window. You essentially are just skipping breakfast.
While fasting does work well in losing weight, remember to have some self-control still.
You will have two larger meals, but don’t make them too large. It’s more about total calories from the day, but fasting will help you be more satisfied due to having bigger meals.
Save half for later
This may challenge your willpower but only eating half your meal is a great tool to help you still lose weight while traveling. The side benefit is that you can save money by getting two meals out of one.
Just make sure your hotel room has a microwave and fridge.
Make better choices
Although eating a big slice of greasy pizza in Italy or tons of tacos in Mexico may be tempting, you can always make better, healthier choices while traveling.
Have a big salad with lots of veggies and delicious protein for lunch, and then enjoy something more savory at night. Instead of eating dessert yourself, split it with a friend or significant other.
Let’s face it. You may be on vacation and want to enjoy some less-than-ideal weight loss food options. You work hard during the year, so you deserve some indulging from time to time.
Our goal is the keep you on track “most” of the time. Enjoy a cocktail, dessert, or whatever you want. Just be smart about it; you will still lose weight while traveling.
