Cheap Exercise Equipment That Works
Building a complete home gym, or even a monthly gym membership, can be very pricey. However, you can still get an incredible workout without breaking the bank. This article details a list of cheap exercise equipment that will pump you up!
Pull up bar

Pull-up bars are a great way to get stronger in your arms back chest and shoulders and abdominals and are cheap exercise equipment.
Benefits of Pull-Up Bar
- Convenience (can be done at home or even outside)
- Works out multiple muscle groups at once
- Improved grip strength
- Lots of variations to the exercise
- Weight Loss (more muscle increase metabolism)

Pull-ups can be challenging for many people, so don’t be ashamed if you can’t do any to start. There are ways to get stronger without being able to do a full pull-up. Use bands or do only the negative portion of the movement by standing on a chair and doing your best to let yourself down slowly.
If you decide to purchase a pull-up bar, we recommend The Iron Gym Pull-Up Bar. I have had mine for over 5 years, and it still works like a charm. You can check current prices on Amazon here.
Resistance bands

Resistance bands are basically mimicking a dumbbell or barbell for significantly less money. They are great because they get much more challenging as the band becomes extended.
Remember, resistance is resistance, and the body can’t tell the difference if you’re using a dumbbell, machine, or resistance band. Why pay more when you can buy cheap exercise equipment?

Jump rope is my favorite cheap piece of exercise equipment. Even the higher-end weighted jump ropes are no more than $100.
Jumping rope is very intense, so remember to start slowly.
Benefits of Jump Rope
- Can burn 1000 calories per hour
- Portable
- Helps build muscle
- Weight loss
- Speeds metabolism
- Cost-effective
- Cheap Exercise Equipment
We prefer a weighted jump rope and use the brand Cross Rope.

Your own body

Believe it, you don’t need fancy equipment to get into great shape. The above equipment is great, but you can get an awesome workout without spending a dime.
Bodyweight exercises such as pull-ups, pushups, squats, lunges, sit-ups, and leg raises can give you a great workout without spending a dime.
Check out famous fitness YouTube Scooby on the many places you can do pull-ups if you don’t have a pull-up bar.
You can also use two chairs to do dips, which like pull-ups are a great movement that works for multiple muscle groups
Motivation
These are the best pieces of cheap exercise equipment that work very well, especially if you’re on a budget. However, they can only do so much if you are not being consistent with using them.
It is ultimately up to you to change
Besides the pull-up bar, this equipment can go anywhere with you. So, if you’re traveling or can’t make it to the gym, there’s no excuse not to get a great healthy workout.
It is all about motivation, and you need to have it to make a change.

Remember to eat healthy too!
All the cheap workout equipment won’t replace a bad diet. You may have heard this before, but abs are created in the kitchen, not the gym.
There are so many opinions on a healthy diet but for a general idea. Here are a few tips we would follow:
- Eat whole unprocessed foods 75-85% of the time. Organic if you can
- Drink enough water
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Consume more fruits and vegetables
- Do not smoke
- Eat and chew slower
Consult your physician before starting any nutrition, diet, exercise, or health protocol.
You can do it!
As you can see, getting into shape doesn’t have to be expensive. You will achieve great things if you put the time and effort in.
Remember to believe in yourself, and you can expect to accomplish your goals even on a budget.
