Benefits of Yoga for Women and Men
6 Reasons to Start Doing Yoga
I have been doing Yoga on and off for the past 20 years but recently started a new routine when I was forced to work out from home during the pandemic this year.
While I always knew the benefits of practicing yoga regularly, I was impressed with how much it improved many aspects of my life.
In this article, I want to discuss my personal experience and The Benefits of Yoga for Women and Men.
Namaste!
1. Improved Weight Loss

This website is dedicated to helping people lose weight, so naturally, this would be the first reason I recommend doing yoga regularly.
It is a common misconception that yoga is not very intensive and therefore would not be the greatest form of exercise for losing weight.
But if you’ve ever done an intense yoga workout, you will find it extremely intense and challenging. When I first started, I was sweating like a pig after this workout.
The reason why Yoga is so challenging is that you are holding certain poses for an extended period. Over time, this works out the muscles and creates a challenge for your nervous system while still being low impact.
Just from adding yoga practice three times a week for 20 minutes to my normal workout routine, I have lost an additional 8 lbs (3.6 kg) in 2 months!
2. Better Posture and Flexibility

Due to working a desk job and playing video games for many years, I have had an issue with bad posture.
It is something that I am working on, but weekly yoga practice has greatly improved my posture. My upper back is more straight, my neck is more pulled in, and my hips are much more flexible.
My wife even noticed and said I look taller 🙂
3. Mental Clarity and Focus

I believe we have a problem with a lack of focus in today’s society. The reason for this, in my opinion, is due to cell phones and social media.
I certainly am addicted to my phone, but when I started doing yoga regularly, I noticed that I am much more present and less tempted to see what was going on on Facebook or YouTube during my day.
Some studies have shown that Yoga can help improve focus, mental clarity, and one’s ability to learn (1)
4. Relieves Stress

I try to focus on the positives in life, but I’ll be honest with you. This year has been very stressful.
Having to wear a mask while going out and losing my full-time job in the travel industry has made me a little more stressed.
I think we can agree we could all use a little bit of stress relief.
Since I’ve been practicing yoga every week, I’ve noticed that my stress levels have decreased dramatically, even with everything going on this year.
I notice I am becoming less irritated with things and more accepting in general.
There is even scientific evidence to back up my personal experience. Studies have shown that practicing yoga consistently can lower cortisol levels, easing stress. (2)
5. May Reduce Risk of Certain Diseases

I am generally a healthy person, but I want to discuss how yoga may reduce the risk of certain diseases.
One study showed that people who practice yoga consistently had lower blood pressure than those who didn’t. (3)
High blood pressure it’s linked to several diseases, including stroke and heart disease.
Because I have a family history of both diseases, practicing yoga to help lower my blood pressure is important to me and my long-term health.
6 Pain Relief!

The benefits of Yoga for Women and Men have been an amazing way for many individuals to reduce their pain levels.
For my entire adult life, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t taking ibuprofen for neck and shoulder pain, lower/upper back pain, and overall muscle soreness due to bodybuilding and weight training.
Because I’ve been stretching and doing yoga consistently, my neck pain that causes tension headaches has gone away. I also noticed that my lower and upper back pain is gone.
I’ve also noticed that I am much less sore after lifting weights and seem to recover much faster.
Get a plan

You can use tons of free resources online to get started doing Yoga. However, when I started getting serious about Yoga, I decided to buy a full routine.
I have noticed that when I purchase a program versus a free routine, I am much more likely to do it because I have a monetary value associated with it.
To reduce your stress, improve posture, lose weight, and relieve pain without taking medications, the 12 Week Yoga Burn Challenge is something I would highly recommend. The Benefits of Yoga for Women and Men are evident and, with consistency, can start to improve overall health for everyone that gives it a try.
