10 Fat Loss Tips for Men to Help Transform the Body
This website focuses on helping women lose weight, but many men struggle with fat loss. This is especially true as men get older and their metabolism slows down due to hormones and other factors. Don’t worry, fellas, I am not forgetting about my brothers. In this article, I will talk about 10 Fat loss tips for men to help transform the body. Let’s dive into the 10 fat loss tips for men to help transform the body and start burning fat!
Count Calories
Most people know that if you cut back on your calories, you’ll lose weight. The problem is unless you are measuring food, you are probably eating too much.
Apps like MyFitnessPal are great at adding different foods and recipes to keep you on track. It is amazing when you start tracking calories when you realize that you’ve been overeating.
It certainly was a wake-up call for me when I started doing it.
Lower your starchy carbs
There are many ways to lose weight, but I have found that many dieters have issues with starchy carbs. More specifically, Potatoes, Rice, Bread, Pasta, and corn.
If you eliminate those starchy carbs and replace them with fibrous vegetables like lettuce, spinach, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts, it will help kick-start your body into a fat-burning mode.
Be more active
Another great fat loss tip is to be more active. We have become very lazy due to phones, TV, and working desk jobs. By adding 30 minutes to -1 hour of extra cardiovascular activity a day, you will be amazed at how quickly your body starts burning fat.
Eat More Fiber
Eating more fiber is a great way to help with appetite issues. Fiber fills up your stomach, so you are less likely to overeat higher-calorie foods. Fiber has no fiber so stick to fibrous vegetables like salads and green veggies.
Beans are also great fibrous food but are more calorie-dense than vegetables.
Intermittent Fasting
I have been practicing intermittent fasting for the past five years with great results. I just skip breakfast and have two meals a day.
If you don’t know, Intermittent fasting means that you have two different timing periods when it comes to eating. The first period is your fasting window period, and the second is your eating window period. There are many ways to do intermittent fasting, but I do it this way. 16/8 periods
- 16 hours of fasting (8 pm – 12 pm, no food)
- 8 hours of eating (12 pm – 8 pm, eating meals at 12 pm, snack at 3 pm, and dinner at 7 pm)
It does take some willpower if you’re used to eating breakfast.
Start Jumping Rope
Jumping rope is one of the best ways to lose fat and help transform your body. But I must warn you. Jumping rope is a very challenging exercise.
I didn’t realize this when I started and could barely do two minutes of skipping. Now I can do over 30 minutes. Remember to start out slowly and your body will thank you.
In terms of calories, you can burn over 500 calories in a 30 minutes session.
I use the Cross Rope Weighted Jump Rope and I highly recommend it if you’re serious about losing weight.
You can check current prices on Cross Rope’s website here.
Drink half your body weight in Ounces in water
Upping your water intake is very helpful in your fat loss journey. First, if your body is dehydrated, it will not function at the optimum level. Second, drinking more water can dramatically decrease your appetite, which is great if you’re trying to lose weight.
I recommend at least drinking half your body weight in ounces.
Begin a strength training routine
Losing weight is great through cardio and diet, but I’ve noticed that without weight training, the shape of the body isn’t improved.
Men tend to benefit greatly through strength training due to hormone levels, bone structure, and overall muscle mass. Take advantage of your gender and build muscle.
Building muscle through strength training also increases your metabolism, which allows you to eat more and lose more weight while dieting. It’s a win-win!
Reduce sugar intake
I can’t speak for other countries, but here in America, we become addicted to sugar at a very young age.
I recall trying to bribe my babysitter for a kit kat bar when I was 3 years old with my cute smile and puppy dog eyes. It worked, but it probably wasn’t the most healthy.
Throughout childhood, we are also given sodas that are loaded with sugar. As adults, we go to Starbucks and drink lattes which are just milkshakes with caffeine.
There’s a reason why many Americans struggle with weight issues and I think sugar addiction is the main cause.
If you can break that addiction, it can help you start losing weight quite rapidly. When I cut my sugar intake, I immediately lose 3-5 pounds.
If you do have a sweet tooth, I recommend having a piece of fruit. It is much healthier due to being natural and being processed differently in the body than processed sugars.
Start a plan
All of these tips I listed above are great if implemented properly. However, even when implemented, people still struggle to lose weight. Why is that?
I think it comes down to a lack of motivation and encouragement.
