Losing weight and removing stubborn belly fat around the holidays can be very challenging. Work potlucks, chocolate and holiday cookie tins, and Christmas feasts make it nearly impossible to stay or get into shape around this time of year. However, you can limit or even reverse the damage by following some or all of the tips below!
1. Weight train before a holiday meal
Weight Training is a great way to speed up your metabolism and help burn more stubborn belly fat. By weight training right before a big meal, your body will utilize those extra calories more effectively. Instead of feeling guilty, the food you eat will turn into muscle. Eating healthy will always be the best method, but weight training will reduce the effect of the inevitable calorie surplus of the evening.
2. Try Intermittent fasting
A great tip for the holidays is to use intermittent fasting. If you plan your holiday meals around your fasting periods, you can keep off the holiday bulge and still even lose weight. The following fasting and eating periods that works best for me around the holidays is as follows:
Eating period: 2pm-8pm
Fasting period 8pm-2pm
Feel free to adjust to whatever works around your schedule. Remember the key is to keep yourself at a caloric deficit and a fat burning state.
3. Use Cheat Meals
As long as you are eating healthy throughout most of the week, Using a cheat meal is a great way to help you continue to lose weight, and also helps you keep your sanity. Keep it to cheat meal and not cheat day as this will help keep you back on track and limits the amount of caloric damage done.
4. Don’t feel guilty
I truly believe we are meant to have fun and enjoy our lives. The holidays can be a wonderful time where we get to spend time with family and friends while enjoying delicious food and drinks. If you do decide to indulge, enjoy the decision you have made. It is not the end of the world if you have some extra dessert or some holiday cocktails. Just as our bodies can put on weight quickly, with the right motivation, we can lose it quickly as well!
5. Get a plan
Since most people will obviously wait until after the holidays to start a healthy eating and nutrition program, it is never too early to start planning for January 1st. What is your New Year resolution? Isn’t it time you finally did what you say you are going to do and get the body of your dreams? We think so too. But sometimes we do need a little bit of help.
We highly recommend Carolyn Hansen’s Weight Loss Bible. It not only gives amazing tips, but it also gives a step by step plan on how to lose stubborn belly fat and how to keep it off permanently. When you Click Here, you will be able to find out more information.
